Zijin – The Arena Renews Blue Certificate: Strengthening Commitment to Sustainable Water Management in La Libertad

La Libertad, July 14, 2026. — The National Water Authority (ANA) renewed the Blue Certificate Zijin – La Arena, recognizing its excellent efficient and sustainable water resource management, as well as its commitment to reducing its water footprint and developing the surrounding communities.
This prestigious recognition, valid for 12 months, ratifies the mining unit as a water-responsible and supportive organization, after verifying compliance with the standards of the ANA's Water Footprint Program. To achieve this, the company implemented significant projects aimed at optimizing water use in its operations and improving access to the resource in the communities within its area of influence.
The Blue Certificate was received by Francisco Quevedo, Superintendent of Environmental Management at La Arena, during a ceremony that brought together authorities from the public sector, companies, and academia.
Additionally, the mining company has recently obtained the I-REC Certificate, which certifies the use of 100% renewable energy in its operations, and the recognition of the CONCYTEC for their innovative project of leachate pad detoxification for mine closure.
With these distinctions, Zijin – La Arena solidifies its position as a benchmark in mining sustainability, demonstrating a firm commitment to responsible water use, environmental innovation, and the generation of shared value in the region.
